Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ Smartphone Telescope

Overview:
The Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ Smartphone Telescope allows you to tour the night sky with your smartphone! The StarSense Explorer app calculates your position in real time and guides you with a list of currently visible objects.

The Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ Refractor is the perfect entry-level telescope for observing the wonders of the universe, including the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Saturn, and bright galaxies, star clusters and wispy nebulae! The StarSense Explorer uses the latest technology to allow you to use your smartphone and a free app to find celestial objects. Bright directional arrows on the screen show you which direction to move the telescope until the bullseye appears, which means the planet, galaxy or nebula is in your eyepiece! The telescope moves easily and is so much fun to use! Kids and adults alike will master the app and telescope movements quickly. Do a tour of the night's best objects, keep an eye on the movement of the planets, known as the wanderers to the ancients, or look at anything in the app's large database of objects.

The Celestron LT 80AZ StarSense Explorer telescope comes standard with two eyepieces and a 2X Barlow lens, a Starpointer Red Dot Finder, a image erect star diagonal, and the innovative Smartphone Dock. In addition, the High Point StarSense Explorer Essential Bundle includes additional accessories that will enhance your astronomy experience even further:

A red flashlight is an essential accessory for all amateur astronomers, and we have included the Apertura Red LED Flashlight so that you can protect your night vision while observing. When you step outside for the first time, it is harder to see in the dark. That is because the pupils of your eyes are adjusted for the brighter light of your home. It takes approximately 30 minutes for your pupils to fully adjust to the darkness, and once they have adapted you will be able to see better, not only as you move around but at the eyepiece as well. A red flashlight can help you read a star chart or find something you’ve dropped without messing with your precious night vision.

A moon filter is also considered essential and here’s why! Besides allowing you to see more detail the Moon, the filtering helps keep your eyes dark adapted. Trust me, one look at the full moon unfiltered through the telescope's optics will ruin the view of any other object through your telescope for quite some time afterwards. To use the included Apertura 1.25” Moon Filter, just thread it onto the barrel end of any 1.25” eyepiece, insert the eyepiece into the diagonal, and you are good to go.

Last but not least, we have included an Apertura Lens Pen in this essential bundle. Use this pen to gently clean away particles that land on your telescope’s optics or your eyepieces or filters. One end terminates in a brush, and the other in a cleaning disc that will remove sticky residue like pollen.

The Celestron 80 mm StarSense Explorer LT couldn't be easier to use. The telescope tube is a classic refractor with 80 mm diameter glass optics that have been coated for enhanced performance. An 80 mm telescope is a definite upgrade to an introductory 60 mm model, with 78% more light-gathering capability! The alt-azimuth mount has manual slow motion controls that allow you to move the telescope up, down, right or left with almost no effort. A full-sized metal tripod is included and comes complete with a spreader bar for stability topped off by a handy accessory storage tray. You can use the Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 80AZ telescope without the help of your smartphone if you wish. Celestron has even included a red dot finder for times when you want to see if you can find objects all by yourself! This telescope also works great as a daytime spotting scope!
